Public Panel Discussion on Challenges Facing the European Union: February 12 at 6 p.m. at Freie Universität Berlin No 029/2019 from Feb 01, 2019 A public panel discussion to be held at 6 p.m. on February 12 at Freie Universität Berlin will address challenges facing the European Union (EU). The discussion, which is entitled Under Pressure - Zur Zukunft der Europäischen Union , will focus on perspectives for EU reform and on shaping European integration in light of increasing polarization in European political debate. The panelists are the representative of the European Commission in Germany, Laura Bethke; the deputy chairperson of the Young European Movement, Katja Sinko; and the British correspondent of the Deutsche Welle, Benjamin Knight. The discussion will be in German. In France the yellow vests movement is protesting against the policies of President Emmanuel Macron, who started with an ambitious pro-European program.
