Multi-million euro grants from Brussels
In its most recent round of applications, the European Research Council (ERC) awarded 253 scientists with Advanced Grants. They can now look forward to receiving up to 2.5 million euros each, which they and their teams can use to pursue their pioneering and innovative project ideas. Researchers from the Max Planck Society have received a total of twelve grants, which puts the Max Planck Society in joint first place with the French scientific organization CNRS in a European comparison. Six grantees are from the Biology & Medicine Section (BMS), and six from the Chemistry, Physics & Technology Section (CPTS), including Nobel Prize winner Benjamin List from the MPI für Kohlenforschung.
