Global Responsibility of Universities
/ Panel discussion on flight, migration, and the role of German universities. These and related questions will be debated by scholars Gülay Ça'lar, Dr. Leyla Dakhli, Michael Keith, and Dr. Florian Kohstall during a panel discussion "Global Responsibility in Times of Migration: What is the Role of the University'" The event will take place as part of a lecture series on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of Freie Universität: Global Responsibility in Times of Migration: What is the Role of the University? . Global responsibility is often understood as the core of internationalization and the self-image of higher education institutions, especially in times when refugee students as well as endangered scholars wish to be accepted in a safe environment. What challenges and opportunities does this present? Freie Universität, for example, is involved in the Scholars at Risk initiative and launched the Welcome@FUBerlin program, an initiative that helps refugees prepare for studying at a German university.
