On the first Tuesday of every month, the TU Ilmenau offers a student advisory service in the Thuringian state capital of Erfurt. Anyone interested can find out about the 47 Bachelor’s and Master’s programs at the centrally located branch of the TU Ilmenau at the main railway station. This means that many prospective students do not have to travel to Ilmenau and can get advice at a location that is easily accessible for many. Each month, however, the focus is on a different topic: on January 6, it will be on technical physics, sustainable energy systems and regenerative energy technology.
It couldn’t be more central and easily accessible: right opposite Erfurt’s main railway station, prospective students from Erfurt, Thuringia and all’over Germany can find out about the 20 Bachelor’s and 27 Master’s degree courses in engineering, computer science, business, media and communication as well as mathematics and natural sciences at the TU Ilmenau’s premises in the Erfurter Hof on Willy-Brandt-Platz. On the first Tuesday of every month from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., a member of the Student Advisory Service will not only answer any questions about studying in Ilmenau, but also present practical and illustrative information about the university’s current teaching and research activities.
The event on January 6 will be all’about technical physics, sustainable energy systems and regenerative energy technology : What can physics and regenerative energy technology do for a sustainably better world? In addition to the opportunity to talk to professors and former students in person, there will also be demonstration experiments and plenty of opportunity to experiment for yourself: From splitting water in a fuel cell to glowing cucumbers and the world’s simplest electric motor.
The staff of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences would also like to introduce prospective students to the good study conditions that characterize the TU Ilmenau: an excellent student-teacher ratio, lots of contact with researchers even in early semesters and the opportunity to carry out experiments themselves instead of just taking notes in lectures.
