Shortly before his concert at Berlin’s Columbia Theater on Monday, December 12, the Italian musician Vinicio Capossela will visit the Center for Italian Studies at Freie Universität Berlin. Capossela will speak about his latest book, Eclissica, and give insights into his creative process, successes, setbacks, sources of inspiration, and artistic endeavors. The talk will start at 10:15 a.m. on December 12 and will be held in Italian. Attendance in person or online is open to the public. Please register in advance at italzen@zedat.fu-berlin.de. The event is being co-organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Berlin and the Feltrinelli publishing house. Vinicio Capossela was born on December 14, 1965 in Hanover. He has already released eleven albums in addition to his latest EP, the audiobook Bestiario d’amore (La Cupa/Warner Music, 2019). Following his first novel, Non si muore tutte le mattine (Feltrinelli, 2004), Capossela has gone on to publish numerous works, including In clandestinità (Feltrinelli, 2009) together with Vincenzo Costantino, Tefteri: Il libro dei conti in sospeso (Il Saggiatore, 2013), and Nel paese dei coppoloni (Feltrinelli, 2015), which was nominated for the Strega Prize, as well as the short story, Cerini di Santo Nicola (Inedizioni Etcetera, 2017). His most recent book, Eclissica (2021), begins at the darkest moment of the solar eclipse in the spring of 2020. From there, the book takes its readers on a journey through artistic and profane reflections and creations and through the failures and successes of Capossela’s last fifteen years.
To celebrate the thirty-second anniversary of his first album, All’una e trentacinque circa, Capossela will give a concert at 8:00 p.m. at the Columbia Theater in Berlin. He is currently touring internationally with concerts in London, Brussels, Berlin, and Paris. The concert "Round one thirty five. 1990-2020 Personal Standards" tells the story of the Italian songwriter’s songs from the first twenty years of his career. Touring with him are Enrico Lazzarini (double bass), Antonio Marangolo (saxophone), Giancarlo Bianchetti (guitar), and Zeno De Rossi (drums).
