Freie Universität Again Successful in Research Alumni Competition of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation has awarded Freie Universität Berlin 40,000 euros for its research alumni program. One of seven universities to be getting these funds, Freie Universität will use the grant for a research alumni meeting in New York. The meeting is intended to strengthen ties with former visiting researchers who are now working outside Germany. In 2012 and 2014, the university already received funding from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to promote its research alumni strategy. "Now that we have established our research alumni program in the past few years, we are pleased to be able to augment the program by holding a meeting in New York that we expect will contribute to the intensification of our research alumni work," said Klaus Mühlhahn, vice president for international affairs at Freie Universität Berlin. The meeting will take place at the beginning of June 2017 in collaboration with Freie Universität's liaison office in New York. As part of its research alumni strategy, Freie Universität is expanding its international research networks by involving former visiting researchers from around the world.
