In 2009-the first year in which the programme was offered-the organizers already received 72 applications for approximately 30 places. " Nowadays, we can choose from an average of 500 applications a year. More than one in four students who begin a master's programme are from abroad, " says Reinhard Bauer, member of the Examinations Committee. The programme is taught in English and has a duration of four semesters. It provides comprehensive basic knowledge in medical theory and-building on that-offers a wide range of specific subjects, thus allowing students to become acquainted with state-of-the-art molecular biological methods for basic and applied medical research.
