From 29 September to 01 October 2023, the National Science on Stage Festival, Germany's largest educational festival for STEM teaching, will take place at the University of Bayreuth. Numerous teachers will present their creative teaching ideas here, including teams of teachers from Upper Franconia and the Upper Palatinate.
Joseph C. A. Agbakoba, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Nigeria, has been awarded a Georg Forster Research Award by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in appreciation of his academic work to date. Rudolf Schüßler, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Bayreuth, had nominated him for this prestigious science award. Recently, Prof. Agbakoba accepted the prize at a ceremony in Berlin. Until 2024 he will be researching the philosophical, ethical and intercultural foundations of development in Africa at the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Bayreuth.
It is impossible to imagine everyday life without polymers. However, they represent only a small section of the huge number of polymers that could theoretically exist. Christopher Kuenneth at the University of Bayreuth, Germany, together with research partners in Atlanta, USA, has now developed a digital system that promises extraordinarily high economic, technological and ecological benefits: From around 100 million theoretically possible polymers, it can filter out at unprecedented speed precisely those materials that are most suitable for targeted applications.
