MPI für Informatik - Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik und Google starten eine strategische Forschungspartnerschaft Das Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik in Saarbrücken und Google haben eine strategische Partnerschaft zur Gründung des Saarbrücken Research Center for Visual Computing, Interaction and Artificial Intelligence (VIA) am Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik beschlossen. Das gemeinsame Forschungszentrum soll Grundlagenforschung in zukunftsweisenden Bereichen der Computergrafik, Computer Vision und Mensch-Maschine-Interaktion an der Schnittstelle von künstlicher Intelligenz und maschinellem Lernen betreiben. Designierter Leiter des VIA ist Christian Theobalt Direktor am Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik. Die anfängliche Finanzierung durch Google erstreckt sich über einen Zeitraum von vier Jahren und soll nach Ablauf dieses Zeitraums verlängert werden. Zusätzliche Mittel kommen vom Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik.
