UC Berkeley and Freie Universität Berlin Sign Agreement on Strategic Partnership

' 354/2016 from Oct 21, 2016 The University of California at Berkeley and Freie Universität Berlin have signed an agreement to collaborate in the form of a strategic partnership. Prof. Nicholas Dirks, Chancellor of UC Berkeley, and Peter-André Alt, President of Freie Universität Berlin, signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate closely in the research, support for young researchers, and teaching. The main collaboration will at first take place in cutting-edge research fields or those that Freie Universität is particularly strong in, such as health research, digitization, and global studies, but is open to further areas as well. It will enable close, project-based cooperation between researchers at both universities. The strategic partnership with UC Berkeley is the fifth agreement of this type for Freie Universität. The agreement was signed during a recent visit of researchers from Freie Universität Berlin to UC Berkeley, led by the university's Vice-President for International Affairs, Klaus Mühlhahn.
