No 052/2020 from Mar 09, 2020
The 49th Annual Meeting of the German Association for Educational Development (dghd) will not be take place as announced as a face-to-face event at Freie Universität from March 10 to 13, but will rather take place only as a digital conference. The majority of the lectures and symposia as well as a number of impulse contributions from workshops and bar camps can be followed live online via the AdobeConnect platform of the German Research Network (DFN). The participating institutions want to help curb the spread of the novel corona virus (2019-nCoV) and to reduce the risks for conference participants as well as for members of Freie Universität Berlin. The meeting was originally scheduled as a face-to-face event on the campus of Freie Universität Berlin.
Over the past few days, the organization team has been working on a digital transmission of the event in order to make it possible for those who had already registered but could not travel or who cannot attend the conference for health reasons. Due to broad support from the speakers and the participants, a large part of the conference will now be accessible via the Internet.
This year the annual meeting of the dghd is being organized by the Berlin University Alliance in cooperation with the Berlin Center for Higher Education. The topic of the conference is university teaching as a shared responsibility. Many well-known educators had agreed to attend, and the majority of their presentations can now be followed online. The broad support from the higher education community in the digital implementation of the conference exemplifies the motto of the conference. The conference agenda with links to all available online presentations is publicly available on the conference website.
