Commended for Equal Opportunity Policies

Freie Universität Awarded Total E-Quality Rating for Sixth Consecutive Time, First Time including Diversity. No 210/2017 from Aug 07, 2017 For the sixth time in a row, Freie Universität Berlin was granted a Total E-Quality award for its exemplary commitment to equality between women and men. For the first time the university also applied for the additional award in diversity - and won that as well. The selection panel noted, "The activities in the area of diversity have also been in place for a long time, and they are convincing and extensive." The award is conferred for three years by the nonprofit organization, Total E-Quality e.V., an initiative to promote equal opportunities for women and men. The award will be presented on October 27, 2017, in Gelsenkirchen. The selection panel stressed that numerous equality measures at Freie Universität are a model for other universities. These include the systematic integration of gender aspects in the study and examination regulations, the digital "Toolbox Gender and Diversity in Teaching," and the anchoring of gender controlling in the Strategic Planning and Reporting unit.
