On May 25, school students will gain insights into research activities and student life at RWTH.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering invites school students to attend Mechanical Engineering Day on Saturday, May 25, 2024. Pupils interested in studying mechanical engineering at RWTH can gain a real insight into student life on this open day, from 12 noon to 5pm.

Professor Wolfgang Schröder, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, will open the event at 12 noon at the Institute of Plastics Processing (IKV), Seffenter Weg 201. More than 20 institutes at Campus Melaten will provide insights into the world of innovative, sustainable, and digital mechanical engineering. "School students can expect an exciting journey of discovery with hands-on activities and information booths where they can experience the fascinating world of technology first-hand," says Schröder. "At no other university in Germany is mechanical engineering as broadly based as in Aachen. With our Mechanical Engineering Day, we want to show that RWTH’s mechanical engineering degree programs provide a wide range of opportunities for students to deepen their knowledge in their particular area of interest and offer excellent opportunities for the job market."

The University’s wide range of specialized mechanical engineering disciplines is reflected in the participating institutes, spanning topics from medical engineering, energy and process engineering, aerospace engineering, and traffic engineering, to laser technology, production engineering, and product development. Student initiatives will also be on hand to demonstrate some impressive examples of the work they have created together. Ecurie Aix, for example, will exhibit its racing car at the IKV and the Flugwissenschaftliche Vereinigung will present electric aircraft prototypes. Further, departmental academic advisors at the Dean’s Office information point will be happy to answer any questions about studying at the Faculty. The student council will also be available for questions at Mechanical Engineering Day.

Further information on the program, locations, and directions is on the event page.
