Research Assistant (PhD candidate) (f/m/d)

This position should be filled by May 1st 2026 with an initially limited contract of three years. The regular working hours will be 24,4 per week and the salary corresponds to the E13 TV-L (60 %) level. The position is affiliated with the group of Prof. Dr. Manuel Alcarazo, who works on the synthesis and design of new catalysts and reagents based on transition metals and main group elements and their application to organic synthesis. Specifically, the successful candidate will be involved in the design of new reagents for late stage functionalization based on sulfonium salts.

We are looking for an outstanding chemist with strong theoretical background and experience working in organic synthesis. A master degree in chemistry is a mandatory requriment. Expertise in analytical and spectroscopic tools and proven experience on the synthesis of sensitive compounds under inert atmosphere using Schlenck techniques are fundamental. Previous experience working on photochemically-promoted processes will also be appecaited. The ideal candidate is expected to be creative, capable to work independently, and team player. Excellent communication and organizatorial skills are also requested.
