100%, Zurich, fixed-termThe Computational Mechanics Group in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering of ETH Zurich is seeking one doctoral student. The position is funded by the SOFRA(CT) project and aims at investigating the failure of elastomers using the phase-field approach to fracture. The goal of the PhD project is to develop cutting edge models for the fracture behavior of polymeric rubbers based on experimental evidence. The PhD candidate will work in the team of Dr. P. Carrara and will be in charge of developing new models to reproduce and predict the experimental evidence obtained by another PhD candidate, with whom he/she will work in close contact. The models will be studied both numerically using HPC libraries as well as theoretically. Job description
