The Plant-Based Foods Department at the Institute of Food Science and Biotechnology at the University of Hohenheim is looking for a doctoral candidate to start in May 2026 to establish high-throughput analytics for predicting the quality of bread wheat.

Remuneration is in accordance with pay grade E13 TVL-L (50% of regular working hours with subsequent top-up). The position is intended for a PhD.

Tasks

• Characterization of dough formation and baking quality
• Expansion of baking quality description
• Characterization of starch properties
• Project management and scientific work
• Publication of findings in journals and conferences
• Development of professional skills within the Graduate Academy
• Transfer of knowledge into teaching

Requirements

• Completed master’s degree in food technology, food chemistry, bioprocess engineering, or comparable field
• Knowledge of scientific work
• Very good written and spoken German and English skills
• Creativity, enthusiasm, and team spirit
