Job requirements and responsibilities:

• Reconstitute metabolic pathways in synthetic and cellular environments such as yeast cells, o Using bottom-up synthetic biology principles to design and implement innovative cell engineering strategies, o Engineering of metabolic pathways in synthetic and live cells, o Integrate concepts from synthetic biology, cell biology and biophysics to build functional synthetic cellular modules, o Analyse data using quantitative and computational approaches, o Contribute to high-impact publications and scientific presentations, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and mentoring junior researchers, o Contribute to teaching in Bachelors and Masters programmes, 1 TV-L = collective agreement on remuneration of public sector employees in the German Länder The pay grade assigned to an employee depends on their professional qualifications and the number of years of service.

Your academic qualifications:

• Doctoral degree / PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, biophysics or related life-science field, o Good command of English.

The successful candidate will also be expected to:

• Have a demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed publication/s, o Be motivated, reliable, and able to work collaboratively and independently, o Be expert in molecular biology techniques, o Have experience with protein expression and purification (highly desirable), o Have experience in working with biomolecular condensates in living and synthetic cells, o Have experience with advanced microscopy methods, o Have knowledge of cellular metabolism, o Be familiar with and apply quantitative experimental methods such as fluorescence microscopy, kinetic assays and analysis, o Use creative problem-solving skills and strong analytical reasoning, o Adhere to good scientific practice, o Work in an interdisciplinary manner, o excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with the willingness to learn German.
