One of them is EST3R Biotech , a start-up from Leipzig University that optimises plastic-degrading enzymes for the molecular recycling of plastic waste. For this, the team is developing a high-throughput electronic platform to track the biodegradation of plastics in real time and in a highly parallelised manner. This technology allows them to continuously develop the enzymes via artificial evolution and adapt them to the desired process parameters for industrial scale.
