No 399/2019 from Dec 20, 2019

A public workshop to be held on January 10 in Berlin will focus on technical, psychological, and organizational approaches to challenges in the use of personal and related data. The USP Day 2020 (Usable Security and Privacy) is being organized by the Secure Systems Engineering group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied and Integrated Security (AISEC) and the ID-Management group at Freie Universität Berlin. All the events of the workshop are free of charge, but advance registration is requested by January 2, 2020. The workshop will take place in German and English.

In more and more areas of everyday life, personal data are digitally collected, stored, and analyzed. This often happens without users knowing about it. This enables companies to gain deep insights into the life and habits of private individuals. Scientists who conduct research in the area of usable security and privacy are concerned with issues such as whether and how strict data protection regulations affect technologies for processing and evaluating large amounts of data, so-called big data, and what role the human factor plays in cybersecurity.
