The University of Jena will be exhibiting at the Leipzig Book Fair together with its partner universities Halle-Wittenberg and Leipzig from 21 to 24 March 2024. Numerous lectures, readings and discussion rounds are on the programme of the "Forum UNIBUND" in Hall 2, Stand C301. Visitors to the joint stand will be able to experience digital book presentations, learn about academic continuing education programmes at Friedrich Schiller University Jena and find out interesting facts about the degree programmes offered by the partner universities of the University Association Halle-Jena-Leipzig.

Topics range from artificial intelligence to cancel culture

  • The "Forum UNIBUND" will open on Thursday, 21 March at 10.30 a.m. with a discussion entitled "Is this literature or can it go away?" on the future of the production and storage of literature in a changing media environment.
  • Joachim Denzler and colleagues will also be discussing the possibilities of today’s AI for early warning and decision-making systems in the context of climate, environmental and health risks on Thursday (21 March at 3 p.m.) under the title "Artificial intelligence for resilience and early warning in climate change".
  • The "Forum UNIBUND" on Saturday (23 March) will also cover a wide range of topics. It ranges from Cancel culture and the Nazi past of some of the Federal Presidents to the secret of successful ageing.
  • The book fair Saturday will conclude at 4 p.m. with a panel discussion by the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig on the topic: "Biological diversity-how we can protect and promote it. From our own garden to the Amazon".
