Impact Rankings released by Times Higher Education
TUM research particularly often contributes to sustainable innovations as here in the e-conversion cluster of excellence. In the THE Impact Rankings, TUM has again placed first worldwide in the category industry, innovation, and infrastructure. The rankings cover research output as well as patents, spin-offs and working relationships with companies.
For the ,,Impact Rankings" , the British magazine Times Higher Education studies the impact of universities in various categories derived from the United Nations Global Sustainable Development Goals. In the area of industry, innovation and infrastructure, the rankings reflect the number of research publications in fields that play an important role in innovations with a sustainable impact such as energy, Industry 4.0, smart cities and 3D printing. Also reflected in the university rankings are citations of research work in patents, the number of start-ups launched and the research income from industry.
TUM received the maximum number of points and therefore placed first along with three other universities. It has now achieved the top ranking three times - in other words, in every edition of the rankings to date.
Top rankings for education of "digital leaders"
The positive impact of teaching at TUM on innovation was recently reaffirmed by the Digital Leaders in Higher Education rankings. TUM is the world’s best university in the category "Digital companies’ management studies". This ranking indicates how many digital professionals working with the most innovative companies earned degrees through business, marketing and finance programs offered by the ranked universities. Furthermore, TUM ranks third for providing the skills needed for digital entrepreneurship. For the ratings in this category, the degrees held by founders were identified and digital experts were asked about the best entrepreneurship programs.
