New book from the TUM Senior Excellence Faculty
The TUM Senior Excellence Faculty takes an interdisciplinary look at the topic of design in their latest publication, "The State of Design". The volume of discourse contains articles by more than 25 experts from science and business and deals with the role of design in our fast-moving and technology-driven world. Here design is seen as more than an esthetic appendix at the end of the development process, but rather as an essential and driving factor in development itself."The State of Design" is intended equally for designers, engineers, architects, sociologists, material scientists and researchers from other disciplines. The book encourages the understanding of design as an integral component of research and teaching. It emphasizes the significance of integration in interdisciplinary education, in particular at technical universities. In addition to TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann, the ground-breaking industrial designer Prof. Dieter Rams and the former Director of the TUM Architecture Museum, Prof. Winfried Nerdinger, have contributed introductory articles to the volume.
