The University of Bonn did very well in the QS World University rankings released yesterday, being amongst the top 100 worldwide in roughly a third of the ranked Subjects. Mathematics is again our highest-ranking subject (41st internationally, 1st in Germany).

Higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has published its international subject rankings for the year, in which 1,559 universities from around the world are compared based on various indicator criteria.

Economics and Econometrics are also strong in Bonn alongside Mathematics, achieving a very noteworthy ranking of 56th (3rd in Germany). We likewise ranked within the global top 100 in the fields of Archaeology, Classical Studies and Ancient History, Philosophy, Development Studies and Dentistry, in the 51’100 range. Agriculture and Forestry was also highly recognized, our programs ranking 73rd worldwide (4th in Germany). In the broader category of the Natural Sciences, we ranked 100th worldwide-a very strong showing.

"In addition to our high rankings in the natural sciences, I am very pleased at how particularly the humanities and social sciences enjoyed considerable recognition, further enhancing the international reputation of the University of Bonn."

This year’s QS Rankings covered 55 subjects; the University of Bonn was ranked in 25 of these. The rankings are determined based on four or five indicators depending on the subject, including academic reputation, employer reputation, citations and international research and publication networks.
