In light of electromobility, digitalization and Industry 4.0 technologies, the automotive industry is undergoing unprecedented change. The research project "BeaT - Renewing vocational training for the automotive transformation" analyzes the changing qualification requirements, especially in the Thuringian automotive and supplier industry. Researchers conducted over 100 interviews with company management, experts, training providers, industry representatives, employers’ associations and trade unions. Based on the requirements identified, the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems (IKTS) and its partners, automotive thüringen e. V. and the Department of Economic and Labor Sociology at the University of Jena, developed new solutions and further training courses together with company partners.
In her lecture at the TU Ilmenau Citizens’ Campus, Dr. Stefanie B. Seitz, transfer expert at the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS and coordinator of the BeaT project, will present the results of the project. She will highlight the challenges that companies have to face during the transformation and present solutions for training and further education.
