Thomas Risse from Freie Universität Berlin awarded Juan Linz Prize for 2021

The International Political Science Association (IPSA) has award political scientist Thomas Risse from Freie Universität Berlin its prestigious Juan Linz Prize for 2021. With the annual award, IPSA honors outstanding scholars from all over the world who have made a significant contribution to decentralization, multinational, and multi-ethnic integration and federalism comparative research. The award will be presented at the IPSA World Congress of Political Science planned to be held in Lisbon in 2021. Prof. Thomas Risse will deliver an award lecture entitled New Nationalisms, Liberal Orders, and the Challenges for Political Science.
Thomas Risse is professor of international politics at the Otto Suhr Institute of Political Science, Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. He is the dean of the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Freie Universität Berlin and director of the Center for Transnational Relations, Foreign and Security Policy at Freie Universität Berlin.
His research interests include international relations theory, norms and transnational actors in world politics, governance in areas of limited statehood, European integration and European identity, as well as transatlantic relations, and the contemporary challenges to the liberal international order.
The International Political Science Association (IPSA) is an international political science association with members from all over the world. It was founded in Paris in 1949 under the aegis of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). Its aim is to support the development of political science in all parts of the world, building academic networks linking East and West, North and South.
