TUM wins project funding

Two innovative Technical University of Munich (TUM) teaching projects are to receive millions of euros in funding from Germany’s "Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre" (Innovation in Higher Education Teaching). The hyteQ project will develop and implement modern hybrid teaching formats combining on-campus teaching with Educational Technology. The alliance project QUADIS will serve to intensify collaboration on university didactics among Bavarian universities.

Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Gerhard Müller is pleased by the success of the TUM proposals for funding: "TUM reacted to the Corona pandemic with an innovative leap forward by extensively digitalizing its teaching, learning and testing. In the future we will permanently combine this progress with the advantages of in-person teaching to cultivate a vibrant campus with an international character. This is the main focus of the individual project hyteQ." The hyteQ project will receive 3 million euros from "Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre" (Foundation Innovation in Higher Education Teaching), a non-profit foundation charged with distributing German national and state government funding in support of university education.

The foundation will provide another 5 million euros for the alliance project proposal QUADIS, which was formulated jointly by Bavarian universities. The project will make an essential contribution to strengthening the overall quality of teaching based on digital approaches. A central instrument in the process will be further education on university didactics for the digital age. The project will achieve significant synergies resulting in considerable improvements in efficiency.
