The eye is the most complex human sensory organ. In order to better treat diseases of the retina, Dr Zohreh Hosseinzadeh is conducting research into the creation of a functional human retina. The European Research Council has confirmed the high scientific relevance of this work by awarding an ERC Starting Grant to the group leader at the Paul Flechsig Institute - Centre for Neuropathology and Brain Research at the Faculty of Medicine. Worth almost 1.5 million euros, this research prize is one of the most prestigious research funding programmes in Europe.
