The Low Frequency Array (LOFAR) is the world’s largest radio telescope for radio shortwave and and ultrashort wave reception. Universität Hamburg and Bielefeld University jointly operate a LOFAR antenna station in Hamburg-Norderstedt, which is also part of the Cluster of Excellence Quantum Universe. A new carrier system is to establish better conditions for producing deep radio images of the Universe.
