Actively Shaping the Transition to a Sustainable Hydrogen Society

The Future Cluster Hydrogen of RWTH and Forschungszentrum Jülich are organizing the Aachen Hydrogen Colloquium for the third time.

The third Aachen Hydrogen Colloquium will take place on May 14 and 15, 2024 at the Novotel in Aachen. Under the leadership of the Future Cluster Hydrogen of RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich, scientists from Germany and abroad will meet to discuss innovations and research results on various hydrogen technologies. These include the production of hydrogen, primarily by electrolysis, the storage and transportation of hydrogen in various states, as well as its use in the mobility and industrial sectors. In addition, the effects on the environment, economy, and society will be scrutinized in order to avoid conflicting objectives.

In 2021, the Future Cluster Hydrogen was selected as one of the seven winners of the "Clusters4Future" initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The cluster focuses on opening up new fields of innovation and finding solutions for future challenges. RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich jointly initiated the application for the future cluster, and the collaboration is now being coordinated by RWTH Professor Stefan Pischinger.

"The annual Aachen Hydrogen Colloquium gives us the chance to put hydrogen innovations in the spotlight and develop them further together. In the hydrogen cluster of the future, we benefit from the results-oriented exchange across the entire hydrogen value chain. Our aim is to actively shape the transformation to an ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable hydrogen society," says Pischinger.
