In this part of the project, optical phonons in gallium nitride nanowires are to be excited using long-wavelength infrared photons inside a transmission electron microscope (Nion HERMES) to investigate their thermalization and defect scattering, among other things. For this purpose, electron energy loss spectroscopy with less than 10 meV energy resolution is used to investigate the photon-pumped systems spectroscopically by means of electrons. The position focuses on conducting the experiments and analyzing data, the laser injection system is developed in advance. The project will be supported on the French side with the production of the nanowire samples (Dr. Bruno Daudin, CEA Grenoble) and accompanying simulations (Dr. Guillaume Radtke, Sorbonne) and close collaboration with these project parts is expected.
