Professorship (W3) Quantum Materials

(Experimental Physics)

Our profile
Comprising 17 departments in the natural and engineering sciences as well as the humanities and social sciences, TU Dortmund University is a dynamic university with a strong profile in research, teaching, promotion of young scientists and transfer.
The Department of Physics combines excellent research in the focus areas of condensed matter physics, particle physics and medical physics with a modern and future-oriented teaching concept.
It maintains national and international networks in both research and teaching and is successful in attracting third-party funding.

Profile of the professorship
You represent the field of experimental condensed-matter physics with a focus on the growth, preparation and investigation of quantum materials with non-trivial magnetic and optical properties (for example:
magnetic topo-logical matter, two-dimensional materials with nontrivial spin properties, quantum magnetic systems) and further develop this field at a top international level.
In doing so, you will participate in research networks and coordinated research programs within and outside TU Dortmund University and are committed to promoting early career researchers.
The research in the Department of Physics at TU Dortmund University has a strong focus on the development of advanced spectroscopic and theoretical methods for the study of linear and nonlinear, equilibrium and nonequilibrium dynamics in condensed matter.
The appointment is also intended to strengthen these activities by the design and preparation of novel quantum materials with non-trivial magnetic and optical properties.
Great potential can be leveraged through combination with the spectroscopic methods available in the department.
In addition, it is possible to get involved in the "Research Center Future Energy Materials and Systems", that was recently established by the University Alliance Ruhr (see:
