It fosters innovation in higher education through exploration of digital technologies and media.

Project background

You will work in the context of a project on open educational resources and platforms, funded by SwissUniversities. We will explore the infrastructure for a self-sovereign educational ecosystem that supports lifelong learners globally. Both global crises, such as the recent pandemic or the rise of cyberterrorism, as well as local crises, such as wars or political instability, underline the necesssity for the establishment of an infrastructure with the resilience, security, and robustness to sustain learners as self-sovereign individuals on their journey through educational experiences.

Job description

You will be engaged in all aspects of the project, including but not limited to: exploring relevant national initiatives, researching and compiling relevant standards for Decentralized Identities (DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials (VCs) for education, researching ledger technologies (in particular federated blockchains), coordinating with project partners in both higher education and industry, whitepaper writing, and dissemination. The position is initially limited to one year.

Your profile

You have an interest in enabling global exchange in education, and you have a background in cybersecurity, cryptography, and digital communications. Ideal candidates will already have experience with the concept of Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI). You have very good communication skills in English, and you can work independently and be self-motivated in an emerging and fast-moving field. You know how to work detail-oriented while not losing sight of the big picture.

We offer

Work times and locations are flexible, but you will not work in isolation. For starters, you will work with higher education and industry partners in Switzerland and Germany, but the goal is to expand this network.
