The Lucerne School of Art & Design offers study programs that are unique in Switzerland rooted in design and art research with a creative focus on design, art and film. The Lucerne School of Art and Design is one of six departments of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, which employs more than 1,700 staff and educates and trains around 10,900 students.

The Design & Management research group at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts explores approaches issues of digital transformation and sustainability uthrough human-centered design. We foster social transformation and economic innovation by providing theoretical foundations and through practical implementations. We work inter- and transdisciplinary with partners from a wide range of sectors.

Research Associate "Post Doc" (60-80%)

Your Tasks

  • Independently contribute to the design and implementation of research projects or parts thereof (e.g., acquisition of external funding, negotiations with partners, proposal writing, and other services) involving human-centered design in public administration, legislation (policy-making), and emerging technologies (e.g., voice-assisted assistance systems, artificial intelligence, IoT).
  • participate in general university tasks and CC D&M tasks.
  • contribute to the design and implementation of relevant research events and dissemination of research results (in German and in English).

Requirements

  • completed PhD in design-relevant field related to digitalization, public administration, legislation (policy-making), and emerging technologies (e.g., voice-assisted assistance systems, artificial intelligence, IoT).
  • published independently; experience in organizing research events; experience in leading research projects or work packages is desirable.
  • proven knowledge of social science methods, as well as their integration into interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research.
  • very good command of English, ideally demonstrated by English-language PhD or publications.
  • you are a visionary, curious and team player with an international orientation.

We offer

The position is affiliated with the Design & Management research group at the Lucerne School of Art & Design and limited to two years for the duration of the VA-PEPR project. You will become part of an interdisciplinary research team specialized in international and contemporary design research.
