Research topics:
  • Molecular mechanisms underlying the response of maize to contrasting water regimes in combination with other environmental stress factors (biotic and abiotic)
  • Functional characterization of candidate genes using physiological and molecular methods such as gas-exchange, pathogen assays, gene expression analyses, mutant analyses, gene cloning, enzymatic activity assays
  • Establishing new screening methods for stress resistance in collaboration with partners of a collaborative project focused on improving crop resilience in the face of climate change

    The successful applicant is expected to have:
  • Diploma or Master’s degree in biology, agricultural biosciences, molecular biotechnology, plant physiology or related disciplines (above average grades)
  • Background in (plant) physiology, molecular biology and/or genetics
  • High motivation to engage in molecular analyses and phenotyping
  • Very good English (oral and written), German is an advantage
  • Ability to work in a team and to collaborate with other research groups
