Junior Professorship (W1) for ,,Livestock Genomics"

The professorship is to be filled by 01.10.2021. The professorship is funded by the W1/W2-position programme for female scientists (women’s promotion programme of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin). This is a W3 tenure track position. In order to verify whether the individual performance meets the requirements of a permanent employment, an evaluation process will be opened not later than five years of service. Tenure track professors at the HU Berlin are expected to carry out research and teach, as well as be active on various university committees and acquire leadership and management skills. The concrete requirements out of the framework catalogue [ https://hu.berlin/tenuretrack_katalog ] will be specified in the course of the appointment process.

We are looking for an internationally recognized young researcher with a strong scientific track record documented by projects and publications who will complement the Thaer Institute in the field of farm animal genomics. The professorship shall contribute to the transformation process in livestock production and resource conservation through appropriate breeding measures. The research focus shall lie in genomic animal breeding for the promotion of resilience, animal health and resource conservation.

The commitment to cooperate closely with other disciplines within and outside of the Faculty o f Life Sciences, in particular with the FoodBerlin Research Network and the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Freie Universität is expected.

Teaching is undertaken in general and special livestock breeding undergraduate and graduate courses.

The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 102c combined with § 102a of the ’Berliner Hochschulgesetz’.
