The holder of the position represents the field of Practical Computer Science / Computer Vision in research and teaching and holds an appropriate scientific qualification.
Outstanding research achievements and project experience are required. The candidate should be visible on the leading international conferences and journals (CVPR, ICCV/ECCV, TPAMI, IJCV, Pattern Recognition). The holder of the position possesses scientific knowledge in one or several of the following research areas: ï‚· Application of current optimization and machine learning methods ï‚· Performance Capture ï‚· Dynamic Scene Reconstruction ï‚· Intrinsic Video ï‚· Computational Photography ï‚· 3D People Detection and Tracking ï‚· 3D Scene Understanding ï‚· Application of Computer Vision in Medical Imaging, Robotics, Autonomous Systems/ Automotive, Surveillance / Security or Manufacturing.
The holder of the position is expected to make research contributions to the research focuses of the Faculty of Computer Science or to participate in the general focuses of the university such as automotive, digital engineering or medical technology.
This also includes the willingness to cooperate with other faculties of the university as well as with the wide range of non-university research institutions such as the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems, the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology or the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation, especially its Virtual Development and Training Center (VDTC), at the science location Magdeburg.
The Faculty of Computer Science attaches great importance to the quality of teaching and student support.
It is expected that the holder of the position will contribute to new teaching and learning concepts and to the further development of the faculty’s study programs.
In addition to in-depth courses (preferably in English), he/she should support the basic courses in system-related computer science at the Faculty of Computer Science.
An active role in the design and profiling of the study course Computational Visualistics is expected, as is intensive participation in the supervision of the faculty’s students.
An above-average doctorate in the field of Computer Science, Media Informatics, Computational Visualistics or related fields is required.
Further outstanding research achievements, experience abroad and / or practical experience as well as publications in internationally renowned journals are desirable.
Prerequisites for appointment are the habilitation or comparable achievements according to § 35 (2, 3) HSG-LSA.
