DescriptionMechanical Designer (TTE Programme)
Company Description At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern. Diversity has been an integral part of CERN's mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization. Job Description Are you a mechanical technician looking for a challenging professional experience to further your career? If so, joining CERN’s TTE programme may very well give you that challenge. The mandate of the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Group in the Engineering Department is to provide to the CERN community, specific engineering solutions combining mechanical design, fabrication and material sciences. Historically the group maintains and develops the know-how on the mechanical construction of beam accelerator components and physics detectors, involving a large spectrum of highly specialized activities, including on-site facilities and sub-contracting. The Mechanical and Materials Engineering Group welcomes the largest design office at CERN. The Design Office is in charge of mechanical design activities required for CERN projects, such as the study and development of new products based on conceptual, engineering, detailed and manufacturing design (from parametric 3D modelling to 2D drafting), and structural, thermal, fluid-dynamic, shock and vibration analyses. These activities are carried out relying on a large range of CAD and CAE tools, mainly Dassault Systèmes, CATIA v5, SmarTeam, Ansys Multiphysics and Workbench. Functions
