Senior Research Associate (Akad. Rätin auf Zeit / Akad. Rat auf Zeit (m/f/d, Bes. Gr. A13 LBesO))

The position will start on 01 July 2019 and will have a duration of three years. The successful candidate will be required to work 41 hours per week with a teaching load of 4 hours per week.

We are seeking candidates who will be responsible for the systematic processing of planetary data sets, support research and teaching within the working group, and maintain/develop strong individual research interests.

The successful candidate will also maintain the computers/servers (Linux and PCs) of the working group, develop and maintain data depositories, and supervise students (BSc, MSc, PhD) in the IT laboratory.

Prerequisites for applying are a university degree in geosciences; a doctoral degree, preferentially in planetary geology; excellent teaching skills; and academic achievements demonstrated by a good record of scientific publications. In particular, the candidate should be familiar with the chronology of the planets, geologic mapping, and geological processes. Additionally, candidates should have good English skills (written and oral) and at least basic knowledge in german language. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in data processing and manipulation in Linux, with ISIS3, ArcGIS, and data bank software and will have developed his/her own strong research profile.

The University of Münster is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the proportion of women academics. Consequently, we actively encourage applications by women. Female candidates with equivalent qualifications and academic achievements will be preferentially considered within the framework of the legal possibilities.
We also welcome applications from candidates with severe disabilities. Disabled candidates with equivalent qualifications will be preferentially considered. However, some limitations due to access to the laboratory facilities or e.g. field sampling may apply.
