Dominique Thévenin Postfach 4120 39106 Magdeburg fvst.dekanat ovgu.de The Institute of Process Engineering of the Faculty of Process & Systems Engineering at Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg in cooperation with the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems invite applications for the following position: "W1 Junior Professor in Computer Aided Integrated Material and Process Design", with a start date of March, 1 st 2019.
The position is initially for three years. Subject to positive evaluation, it will be extended by further three years, according to the HSG LSA.
Vacancy Note Candidates must have previous experience in computer aided molecular and process design with applications in chemical engineering.
The focus of the work will be on the development of integrated material-process design concepts for chemical energy conversion processes, and on the development of suitable modeling and optimization approaches for the design of materials for heat storage and gas separation.
The candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. degree with an above-average grade in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related subject, to have experience as a postdoctoral researcher, and experience in teaching undergraduate courses.
Candidates should have demon- strable expertise in at least two of the three following areas: computer aided molecular design of solvents in reaction and separation processes; numerical methods for solving mixed integer nonlinear programming problems; group contribution methods for estimation of physical properties of pure components and mixtures.
Candidates should have ample experience with software in process simulation and optimization. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching by holding courses in the Master courses of the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering.
Previous teaching experience in the subject Process Systems Engineering is desirable. Formal prerequisites for the appointment of Assistant Professors are stated in § 40 HSG LSA, the limitation in § 41 (1) HSG LSA.
