Postdoc in Animal Genomics (TV-L 13, full-time)

FORTiGe ("Animal Health Through Genomics") is a research cooperation funded by Bavarian Research Foundation and led by the Technical University of Munich (TUM) that aims at the consequent use of genomics (including genome editing) to sustainably improve animal health. An important part of the planned research activities is the systematic search for health-related selection and editing targets. To this end, we will have access to large genotypic and phenotypic data sets in cattle and swine populations, including whole-genome resequencing data of representative individuals.

We look for ...
a highly motivated and creative post-doctoral researcher with a PhD in agricultural science or bi­ology with a dissertation emphasis on molecular genetics / genomics and statistical genomics to become part of this challenging endeavor. Applicants should demonstrate a level of proficiency in programming and the analysis of large data sets. Applicants should also have an established peer-reviewed publication record and have excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and in English.

a full-time position (E13 TV-L) available for three years (from June 1, 2018). The position is at the Chair of Animal breeding that belongs to the TUM School of Life Sciences located in Freising-Weihenstephan, about 40 kilometers north of Munich. The Chair of Animal Breeding and the cam­pus house state-of-the-art labs with direct access to high-throughput genotyping, next-genera­tion sequencing and high-performance computing facilities.
