The proportion of non-voters in the 2021 federal election was 23.4%. The aim of "#Zusammenland: Together for a strong voter turnout" is to reach precisely these citizens and convince them to exercise their democratic right to vote. #Zusammenland is an initiative of leading German media companies. In advertisements and on social media, slogans such as "Go vote, live freedom!" are being used.

,,The current times require a clear stance! It is currently more important than ever to stand up for open and solidary coexistence. Zusammenland wants to act as a counterweight to hatred and populism and show that diversity is our strength. Together, we stand for an open country that courageously faces up to the challenges. For a new togetherness. Strong together in a diverse country," says the initiative’s website.

Around 700 associations, foundations, companies and NGOs’s are participating in #Zusammenland. The 350 scientific institutions include several German universities as well as the Leibniz Association and the Max Planck Society. In addition to Leipzig University, TU Dresden and TU Chemnitz are participating from Saxony.
