Universities of North Rhine-Westphalia Celebrating the 50-Year Anniversary of the Central Study Advisory and Counseling Service

The University of Bonn has been involved from the very start.

The study advisory and counseling service offices of 33 universities in North Rhine-Westphalia, whose mission is to ensure that young people choose the right degree program for them and go on (predominantly) to complete it, celebrated the fifty-year anniversary of their service on March 15. Ina Brandes, Minister of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia, attended the group anniversary ceremony in Wuppertal, as one of the 320 total guests who traveled in from all’over NRW.

Student advice and counseling becomes more important in uncertain times

The Central Study Advisory and Counseling Service (ZSB) is the first resource to turn to for any and all questions about studying at the University of Bonn. The service provides information and guidance to current and prospective students on everything concerning degree program selection, admission and degree completion. It conducts approximately 1,200 student consultations annually, as well as 1,000 psychological consultations. ZSB head Sandra Schramm sees her section’s role as important in providing orientation for young people regarding study-related questions-help which she says is increasingly needed: "Students today are subject to many factors creating pressure. Student advice and counseling are thus all the more important to clear up widespread uncertainty among students today."
