The latest university ranking published today (8 May) by the Centre for Higher Education (CHE) evaluates the subjects Educational Science, German Studies, Psychology, Romance Studies and Materials Engineering / Materials Science at German institutions of higher education. The Friedrich Schiller University Jena once again received top marks from its students. Students rate the support provided by teaching staff as particularly good. The University of Jena also achieved top positions in the current CHE ranking for its international orientation, the conditions for starting a degree programme and the possibility of completing the degree programme within a reasonable period of time.
International and well supported
The University of Jena is in the top group with all ranked subjects in terms of support at the start of studies. The international orientation is particularly emphasised in the degree programmes Romance Studies and Materials Science. The Psychology and Educational Science degree programmes are characterised by the fact that they are particularly frequently completed within a reasonable time: 95 and 88 percent of students respectively complete their studies within the respective standard period of study regular programme length (plus a maximum of two semesters). The subjects German Studies and German Studies Abroad are above the national average for universities: Study organisation, support from teaching staff and support for stays abroad score highly here."I am very delighted with these excellent results, which reflect the success of our university-wide initiative to attract and retain students for the University of Jena," says Karina Weichold, Vice-President for Learning and Teaching at the University. She adds: "I would like to thank all those who contribute, sometimes visibly, sometimes less visibly, to the fact that studying at the University of Jena has such an outstanding reputation thanks to excellent onboarding and optimal support for our students towards successful graduation."
