Signal analysis for bird call recognition is fascinating: it makes it possible to precisely identify and classify the unique songs and calls of birds. At the Science Camp, participants will immerse themselves in the world of complex signal analysis for bird call recognition. Together, they will develop ideas on how artificial intelligence can be used to support biodiversity monitoring and how technical components can be integrated into the environment for this purpose.
In exciting workshops and interactive sessions, supported by experts from Thuringian universities and the InSignA performance center, they will be able to directly implement what they have learned and carry out their own projects. For example, they work together in a team project to develop an energy-saving bird counter.
Using a combination of signal analysis and AI-supported technology, huge quantities of audio recordings of bird calls can be processed efficiently in order to recognize and monitor different bird species - new opportunities for nature conservation and biodiversity research, as this allows bird populations to be monitored, the impact of environmental changes on bird life to be better understood and habitats to be protected.
The Science Camp at TU Ilmenau is not only an opportunity to deepen one’s knowledge and learn new skills, the prospective engineers can also build new networks and open up career opportunities with attractive companies and research institutions in the region.
