University of Bonn to take part in Nacht der Technik from 6 pm to midnight on Friday, October 20

The third Nacht der Technik ("Engineering Night") Bonn/Rhein-Sieg is coming up soon, and the University of Bonn will have its own station at the event for the first time in order to give visitors insights into various areas of its research. From 6 pm to midnight on Friday, October 20, 2023, the University will be one of 49 places in the region to open their doors and showcase engineering innovations with the help of interactive experiments from the worlds of robotics, geodesy and geoinformation, and astronomy. All its events at the University of Bonn will be held in the Institute of Computer Science at Friedrich-Hirzebruch-Allee 8.

How will robots make our daily lives easier in the future? During the Nacht der Technik, the Autonomous Intelligent Systems working group at the University of Bonn will be lifting the lid on its research and the many varied uses that robots have, from telepresence and fire-fighting through to playing soccer and doing the housework. Its award-winning avatar system allows a robot to be controlled remotely as if you were sitting right next to it. Visitors will get the chance to meet some real-life world champions in the form of the group’s soccer robots, while other robots, including flying ones to support the fire An astronomy exhibit will let members of the public discover all the various aspects of the universe that researchers can study, while the interactive LEGO model of the ALMA telescope array will explain how black holes, galaxies and exoplanets in deep space are being observed and investigated.

Visitors to the enaCom Transfer Center’s stand will be able to come up with solutions for all the challenges facing the world today with the aid of some LEGO. This creative method is ideal for brainstorming completely new approaches quickly.

Schoolchildren, apprentices and students who live in Bonn or the Rhein-Sieg district can visit the 3rd Nacht der Technik Bonn/Rhein-Sieg for free with the YoungTalent-Ticket ( www.bonnticket.de ). You will not need a reservation or a ticket to enjoy the University of Bonn’s program. All its events will be held in the Institute of Computer Science at Friedrich-Hirzebruch-Allee 8.
