The University of Bonn is one of the 100 universities with the highest reputation worldwide. This is the result of the recently published ranking by Times Higher Education (THE) magazine, which is based on a survey of almost 40,000 international academics on excellence in research and teaching. Bonn is ranked 91’100 , making it one of only six German universities to make it into the top 100 of the survey.
Five other German universities of excellence are ranked ahead of the University of Bonn, namely the Technical University of Munich (TUM, rank 28), Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU, rank 51-60), the University of Heidelberg (rank 61-70), Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (rank 71-80) and - as the second university from North Rhine-Westphalia - RWTH Aachen (rank 81-90).
The results of the reputation ranking are based on the frequency with which an institution is named by respondents as one of the best in its field. This year’s ranking includes 204 universities from 31 countries.
