QS World University Rankings: The University of Freiburg is among the top 10 in Germany

The University of Freiburg has taken fourth place nationally.

In the current QS World University Rankings , the University of Freiburg is ranked 10th in Germany. Worldwide the University has taken 212 place. In the area of sustainability, the University of Freiburg ranks 4th nationally and is listed among the top 100 internationally at 94th place. The University of Freiburg is ranked 7th nationally for the proportion of international scholars. The QS World University Rankings are published annually by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) in cooperation with the academic publisher Elsevier. Over 1,500 universities are listed in the current rankings, 48 of which are in Germany.

The QS World University Rankings assess the following nine indicators

The universities are assessed on the basis of nine differently weighted indicators: academic reputation (30 per cent), employer reputation (15 per cent), teacher-student ratio (10 per cent), citations per faculty (20 per cent), proportion of international students (5 per cent), proportion of international academics (5 per cent), international research collaborations (5 per cent), alumni activity after graduation (5 per cent) and sustainability (5 per cent). The publication analyses are based on results from Elsevier’s Scopus database; the sustainability indicator is based on the QS Sustainability Rankings 2024 published in December 2023.
