The New Year’ s Concert ends with the Overture in D by Franz Schubert (1797-1828) .

The TU Ilmenau’s New Year’s Concert is traditionally associated with the President, Prof. Kai-Uwe Sattler, looking back on the past year and looking forward to the coming year.

The TU Ilmenau Academic Orchestra was founded in 1967 as a chamber orchestra of the Technischen Hochschule , the forerunner of today’s Technischen Universität. Its members are students and employees of the university as well as amateur musicians from the region.
