Freie Universität Berlin Not Associated with Organizing Public Protest on Public Property

Statement from the university regarding official public demonstration at Otto-von-Simson-Straße 26

According to official records, an assembly that has been registered with the responsible government authorities is scheduled to take place at Otto-von-Simson-Straße 26 on February 8, 2024 ( https://www.berlin.de/polizei/service/versammlungsbehoerde/versammlungen-aufzuege/ ). Freie Universität Berlin is not associated with organizing this gathering in any way. It has not granted approval for the event to take place or for the participants to congregate on university property. The assembly has, however, been officially registered with the police and is thus legally permitted to take place. A condition of this is that the event must take place on public property. Should activity not approved by the university encroach onto university property, Freie Universität reserves the right to deny access to its premises and to have any participants in such activities removed from university property. Freie Universität Berlin has already filed charges with regard to the content of posters advertising the aforementioned demonstration on February 8, 2024.
