Annual meeting of the 4EU+ European University Alliance with its eight partners takes place in Warsaw
The topic of digitalization is on the agenda of the 4EU+ European University Alliance’s annual meeting, being hosted in Poland by the University of Warsaw. Representatives of the eight partner universities - besides Warsaw, the Universities of Prague, Heidelberg, Paris-Panthéon-Assas, Sorbonne/Paris, Copenhagen, Geneva and Milan - are convening for discussions on the opportunities and challenges of digital developments in the fields of education and research, as well as in the context of the transnational cooperation in the Alliance. The annual meeting under the heading "Digital 4EU+: Education - Research - Cooperation" is taking place from 25 to 27 September 2024.
The annual gathering in Warsaw starts on 25 September with meetings of the so-called flagships and various working groups and bodies of the Alliance. The four 4EU+ flagships cover thematic fields that form the basis for interdisciplinary cooperation in research, teaching and innovation between the eight member universities. They concentrate on topics that play a key role in the quest for solutions to current global challenges, such as health and demographic change, or issues relating to environmental and climate change and adaptation. The program also includes overarching lectures and panel discussions.
The 4EU+ general assembly will take place during the annual meeting on 26 September. Besides reports on the status and prospects of the Alliance, there will be a change in the office of Chair of the Governing Board. Elio Franzini, Rector of the University of Milan, will pass it on to Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw. In the following opening lecture, Renata Wloch will speak on the role of the university in the datafication age. The sociologist’s research at the University of Warsaw focuses, inter alia, on digital globalization. The General Session will then take up the topic "Digital 4EU+ in Practice". On 27 September the Governing Board of the Alliance will convene; in addition, the vice-rectors and vice presidents for research and teaching will hold their own sessions.
The 4EU+ European University Alliance brings together the eight universities of Prague, Heidelberg, Paris-Panthéon-Assas, Sorbonne/Paris, Copenhagen, Geneva, Milan and Warsaw. The group of partner universities is one of the university alliances funded in the context of the Erasmus+ European Universities call. By supporting strategic higher education partnerships and building up an integrated university system, the European Commission pursues the goal of clustering research, teaching and innovation in Europe in new structures, and thereby modernizing and strengthening the European Education Area.
